pH is the measurement of acidity or alkalinity on a scale of 0-14, with 7 being neutral, anything under 7 becoming acidic, and anything over 7 becoming alkaline.

Your body pH is something you must not ignore if you wish to maintain optimal health, keep your immune system strong, and maintain proper weight. Most interior living matter (excluding the cell nucleus) has a pH of about 6.8. Blood plasma and other fluids that surround the cells in the body have a pH of 7.2 to 7.45.
A blood pH of 6.9 can induce coma and death. That is why all bodily systems are secondary in importance to the system of pH balancing. Your body will willingly shut down digestion, alter temperature, rob your bones of calcium, deprive your pancreas, just to maintain adequate fluid buffers of alkalinity to balance the 'acid tide' we inflict upon ourselves through our food and beverage choices and stress.

Almost everything we eat and drink is used by our bodies for nutrients and energy and the leftover product is acidic waste, and is eliminated from our bodies through our urine, our colon, sweating, and breathing (C02 carbon dioxide). One of the biggest jobs that our body has is to keep our blood, organs and tissue in a slightly alkaline state.
When the acid waste matter is stored faster than it can be eliminated, it results in a mild case of acidosis. Wrong habits of living, over-work , food, etc. will make this condition worsen and a host of health problems begin to arise. Western medicine does not pay much attention to the importance of pH balance but instead, preferres to treat symtomes of acidity (heart burn, indigestion, acid reflux and more) with drugs that may cause temporary relief of the symtoms. Unfortunately almost all drugs are acidic to our bodies and will only worsen the conditions over time.
If we ingest more acids than the body can eliminate, it begins to build up acid waste and the body looks for ways to get the acidic waste out. Some mild symptoms of an over acidic system can be acne, flatulence (gas), heart burn, belching, and many other first signals of acidosis. The waste that cannot be eliminated will be stored, causing some intermediate signs that we pay more attention to like cold sores, muscle and joint pain, constipation, hair loss, viral infections (colds & flu), bacterial infections (staph, strep) swelling, etc. More severe signs are arthritis, and cancer.
Most foods are alkaline by nature (almost all fruits and vegetables are alkalizing to our bodies), but all manufactured processed foods are acidic. It is important to balance each meal with 75% alkaline to 25% acidic to maintain optimal health. Your daily dietary intake of food should naturally balance your body pH.
